Gayngs return to First Avenue

More Just Announced
Gayngs’ big debut at First Avenue (a.k.a. the The Last Prom On Earth) was one of the most talked about shows of 2010. How do you top a night of formal attire, Howard Jones covers, and a Prince sighting? Well, you could start by taking over the Entry and the Record Room in addition to the Mainroom. And since you have all that space at your disposal, you might as well fill it with dozens of your talented friends.
Today, City Pages’ Gimme Noise blog reports that the group is coming back March 6 with something called the Affiliyated Showcase—and the lineup is insane. Basically, if a member of Gayngs is in another band (and they all are), that band gets a slot on the bill. Prior to Gayngs’ headlining set, Doomtree, Solid Gold, Megafaun, Leisure Birds, Alpha Consumer, and Mystery Palace will take the stage in the Mainroom. The 7th Street Entry will feature sets by Har Mar Superstar, Slapping Purses, Marijuana Deathsquads, Spyder Baybie Raw Dawg, Moonstone Continuum, Albert, and Radical Cemetery. And throughout the night, various artists will DJ in the Record Room, in between “intimate” sets by members of Doomtree. The show is a little going-away shindig to psyche up the Twin Cities band for its SXSW appearances the following week. Tickets are $20 and go on sale Friday.
