G.B. Leighton asks, "Are you ready for some baseball?"
Rained out.
When it was announced that G.B. Leighton was creating a song to be played before telecasts of Twins games, the big joke was to wonder whether it would at least be better than Prince's confounding Vikings song. Well, opening day is here, and we've got our answer: It isn't! It's so much worse!
We're having a hard time choosing our least favorite part: the "rockin'" electric violin solos, Brian Leighton wailing the names of towns throughout Minnesota (also, "Dakotas!"), or the lyrics that sound like they took all of two minutes to write. Maybe it's the song's whole gritty, tough-guy, no-fun vibe. Yeah, that's probably it. Fox Sports North has exclusive rights to this stink, so head over if you want to subject yourself to it—but you've been warned. We're going to hang back and listen to our favorite Twins ode. Couldn't The Hold Steady just record a new version that doesn't mention the 'Dome?
