Help Haiti with these Twin Cities events

Local performers have banded together to set up a number of fundraisers around town, making it easier than ever to help earthquake victims in Haiti. (Okay, leaving the house is not as easy as making a text donation, but it's more fun.)

First up is Hip-Hop For Haiti at the Nomad World Pub on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The evening—which will feature authentic Haitian dishes from 7 to 9 p.m. and music by a slew of artists including DJ Snuggles, Desdamona, and Mally—will be hosted by Haiti-born Kanser MC Unicus. All proceeds from the event go to Wyclef Jean's non-profit organization, Yéle Haiti.

The Cedar's fundraiser, Solidarité Avec Haiti, takes place Friday, Jan. 22 and features an art auction, catering by Victor's 1959 Cafe and The French Meadow, and music by Viviana Pintado, Maria Isa, and more. Proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders' Emergency Relief Fund.

On Jan. 30, Stevie Ray's usual Saturday-night improv show will be a charity event: Laugh For Relief consists of two full sets of improv comedy at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel, with proceeds going to the Red Cross Haitian Relief Fund.
