Everything old is awesome again on local movie screens this Friday: The Trylon kicks out some Buster Keaton gems, the St. Paul Central Library big-ups Bogart with a screening of The Maltese Falcon, and the Riverview goes the quotable cult-comedy route with a late-night showing of The Princess Bride. Ascendant shoegaze trio Gospel Gossip touts its latest disc at the 501 Club, while hometown favorite Chris Koza headlines at the newly minted Sauce nightclub at Lake and Lyndale. Station 4 hosts the over-the-top "circus punk" of Mucca Pazza. The genre-jumping tweakers of Slim Cessna's Auto Club play the Turf. And lest ye forget, the Deep Blues Festival rages on at the Cabooze.

Here's the video for Chris Koza's "Redwood Skyline":

Saturday brings some shameless self-promotion to this very screen as A.V. Club head writer Nathan Rabin reads from his new pop-culture-obsessed memoir at Magers & Quinn. Those who like their music raucous and raw can dig into the ongoing Deep Blues Festival, while more sensitive ears will happily settle for smooth-jazz maestro Dave Koz at the Minnesota Zoo. Also on Saturday, The Alarmists and Romantica ratchet up the volume of St. Paul's family-friendly Highland Fest. For night owls with or without something special to smoke, the Uptown Theatre screens Michel Gondry's sweetly surreal Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

On Sunday, the Deep Blues Festival atones for its dirty, guitar-slingin' sins with a reverent For The Love Of Jesus Gospel Brunch at the Cabooze. Later, First Avenue celebrates all things Rhett Miller-related—which is to say, Miller plays solo and with his band, Old 97's, on the same bill. At Orchestra Hall, Beatles fans can sate their Fab Four fetish with 1964: The Tribute, while Cirque Du Soleil's mind-boggling Kooza continues at the Grand Chapiteau in St. Paul.

Here's a recent interview-slash-web-commercial featuring Rhett Miller himself:
