Loney Dear coming to the Cedar on May 10
Swedish indie-pop darlings and FOABs (Friends Of Andrew Bird) announce headlining tour
That Andrew Bird is one shrewd bastard. Not only has he snared a handful of the Twin Cities' best musicians (Martin Dosh, Jeremy Ylvisaker, Michael Lewis) to be his backing band as he takes over the alt-rock universe, but he's got peerless taste when it comes to choosing opening acts (Grizzly Bear, Dosh, Christina Courtin, Haley Bonar, et al). That's how Decider first discovered Loney Dear, the Swedish buzz band that's about to bump Lykke Li—and possibly Bird himself—off your iTunes' Most Played list. Having supported Bird on loads of dates across this great land, leader Emil Svanängen and his mates ought to be a well-oiled indie-pop machine by the time they touch down at the Cedar Cultural Center on May 10. They'll be cruising the States for most of May in support of their new Polyvinyl Records release, Dear John. Check out the video for the first single, "Airport Surroundings," below:
