Mates Of State announce summer tour with Nick Thune, Todd Barry, and Free Energy
They're also going to squeeze in a couple of Lenscrafters appointments.
Indie piano-pop husband-and-wife team Mates Of State may only be two people, but they've just announced an ambitious summer tour: The adorably named Summer Crushes outing runs from mid-June to mid-July, including a pair of 400 Bar shows June 23-24. What’s so ambitious about that? Well, at various gigs throughout that month, “multimedia guests” like Free Energy, comedians Todd Barry or Nick Thune, or Suckers will flank the duo. The tour coincides with the similarly named covers collection Crushes (The Covers Mixtape), due out this summer and including the pair’s takes on songs by The Mars Volta (“Son Et Lumiere”), Death Cab For Cutie (“Technicolor Girls”), Tom Waits (“Long Way Home”), and more.
