Ever wish you could buy a drink for one of your musical heroes? In a radical turning of the tables, Grumpy's is giving its hard-rocking patrons a chance to buy a round from a pair of rock idols. For two nights, King Buzzo of Melvins and Adam Jones of Tool will be taking a shift behind the bar at Grumpy's—Saturday the 13th in Roseville, Sunday the 14th in downtown Minneapolis—and slinging drinks of their own creation. The Grumpy’s mini-empire is owned by a fellow punk veteran, Amphetamine Reptile Records founder Tom Hazelmyer, who will release a limited-edition Melvins 7-inch single at these appearances, featuring covers of “The Star Spangled Banner” and Kiss’ “Detroit Rock City.” The Melvins themselves play Grumpy’s Roseville directly after Buzzo’s Sunday gig downtown, and metal trio Big Business, who now form part of Melvins’ roster, also play Triple Rock on Saturday.
