Minnesota vocal group goes viral with a cappella Dirty Projectors cover

In the grand tradition of Tay Zonday and that batty McCain rally lady, Minnesota is giving birth to another irresistible online meme. An a cappella singing group at Northfield's Carleton College is making mad rounds on the YouTube with an unlikely cover of the Dirty Projectors song "Cannibal Resource." Art-pop gone barbershop is hardly a new phenomenon—from Radiohead to Animal Collective, a cappella renditions of Pitchfork-favored artists are plentiful on the interweb—but there's something extra-bold about this 11-man Projectors redux complete with human beatbox. Known as The Carleton Singing Knights, the group should be ready for its Jimmy Kimmel close-up once this clip hits 500,000 views.
