Mountain Goats tribute show this Friday

The more personal a piece of music is, the harder it is for someone else to cover. If that's true, then a gaggle of Twin Cities musicians have their work cut out for them this Friday as the Turf Club hosts a live tribute to The Mountain Goats. Love or hate the indie cult-faves, you've got to admit that their music has eveything to do with singer-songwriter John Darnielle and his signature knack for detailed, nasal observations that often read like an unplugged version of Craig Finn. Local artists Martin Devaney, Bill Caperton, and Tiger Gash are among those brave enough to take Darnielle's tunes and interpret them in front of a paying audience.
