MSPIFF Agenda: April 26

So many movies, so little time. With dozens of films from all over the world screening at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival, you need a way to winnow down your choices. Each day of the fest, Decider will weigh in with our picks for that day's screenings.
Unconvention (St. Anthony Main, 5:15 p.m.)
Local artist and producer Chris Strouth’s documentary about last year's chaotic Republican National Convention in St. Paul is a masterfully crafted, fascinating collage of media clips spliced together to tell the tale of RNC '08 in all its pepper-sprayed, smoke-bomb-hazed confusion.
Olav H. Hauge, Poet (St. Anthony Main, 5 p.m.)
Norwegian modernist poet Olav Hauge (1908-94), was a troubled fjord hermit, orchard-keeper, and onetime mental patient who was spared a lobotomy by a doctor who refused to risk damaging his poetic gifts. This short biography is accompanied by Hauge's own poetry. Director Vigdis Nielsen is from the same village as Hauge. (Shown with Lorca, The Sea Stops Moving.)
The Investigator (St. Anthony Main, 6:30 p.m.)
The brooding coroner protagonist of The Investigator has a sick mother, but he lacks the resources to pay for the surgery that could help her. So, like any good son, he accepts an offer to kill a stranger for a hefty cash reward. Complications ensue when he discovers connections to his victim and embarks on an investigation of the crime that he himself committed. The Investigator won a host of awards at Hungary’s leading national film festival. (Also April 30)
