MTV kills Mark Mallman song by putting it in The Jersey Shore

It’s like MTV can’t get enough of the Twin Cities these days! First, it announces this rad-ass audition for The Real World 27 at Blarney’s Pub in Dinkytown, and now we’re happy to say, by including it in this season’s finale of Guido Zoo, it has unceremoniously murdered a classic rock anthem by local legend Mark Mallman.
This is, of course, just the latest in a series of musical casualties, but it might be the most tragic. Up until this point, MTV’s mausoleum of licensed-for-The Jersey Shore pop tunes has mostly been terrible shit. The deceased song, “Light The Dynamite And Run,” was chosen in a lottery-style drawing organized by Viacom executives, who then surrounded the terrified, shivering piece of music in the town square and hurled rocks at it until it died. And so the crops will be plentiful this year.
