My Morning Jacket will headline Rock The Garden
More Just Announced
One of summer’s most hyped outdoor shows officially has music. On Tuesday, The Current’s Mary Lucia took to the air and Internet to announce that My Morning Jacket will headline summer’s (sometimes) sweatiest day of tunage. The space rockers’ appearance will follow the release of their forthcoming album, Circuital.
Local boys Tapes ’N Tapes will start the day, followed by soul legend Booker T. Jones, and topped off by Neko Case and her alt-country-singed vocals. The music fest takes place on Saturday, June 18, a date on which it usually does not snow.
The daylong music event, sponsored by 89.3 The Current and the Walker Art Center, will once again occur on the hilly lawn behind our space rock-shaped modern art museum. Last year’s performers included viral video phenom (okay, and Grammy winner) OK Go, Sharon Jones And The Dap-Kings, and MGMT, who were then fresh off the release of glittery funk-fest Congratulations. Retribution Gospel Choir repped the local sound.
Tickets are first offered to Walker and MPR members, and then can be purchased by the public on May 3 via the Walker Art Center website.
