New Atmosphere decks on sale Thursday
Minneapolis design wizards Burlesque Of North America put Slug and Ant on wheels
It's safe to presume that there's some pretty serious overlap between the worlds of skateboarding and Atmosphere fandom. With that in mind, bad-ass local art cartel Burlesque Of North America is about to stoke the fuck out of hip-hop-loving skate rats around the Twin Cities and beyond. Starting at 2pm this Thursday, Feb. 12, Burlesque's online store will offer a limited quantity of custom Atmosphere skateboard decks. (Scroll down to see the full design in all its curb-grinding barbarian splendor.) The image itself is based on a poster by artist Todd Bratrud and features Atmosphere principals Slug and Ant along with veteran sound man Randy Hawkins, each armed with paint supplies—a nod to the title of the group's album When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold. With fewer than 20 of these decks available for the Thursday sale—at $50 plus shipping, etc.—they're likely to sell out faster than you can "Say Hey There."
