Newswire Of Montreal will act out all across the U.S. next year, with new tour dates

With the wallet of the average youthful concertgoer becoming ever more emaciated, jobless and underemployed twentysomethings may have to make some tough decisions about which shows are worth mom and dad’s hard-earned dollars. Well, Spin.com would like to direct your attention and meager income to Baroque fop-pop act Of Montreal, who have a new LP and, now, a nationwide tour barreling at us like Planet X early next year. The group, which has been active since the year Independence Day came out, is going all out with the new album, which will be available on vinyl, compact disc, in digital formats, and as a limited edition cassette tape starting Feb. 7. You know, for the kids. The tour, which kicks off Dec. 31 in Of Montreal’s hometown of Athens, Georgia, looks to be equally ambitious, with 31 shows in 28 cities across the contiguous U.S. Along the way, they’ll be supported by indie favorites Deerhoof, Cults, and Hard Nips, among others. Though Of Montreal’s live shows have traditionally been known for singer Kevin Barnes’ embarrassingly elaborate attempts at getting all of the attention in the world, the new album sounds like it could be a little less obnoxious than previous efforts, so perhaps he’s settled down a bit:
