Once more, with feeling: Andrew Broder returns with a new new new solo album
We didn’t think we’d be doing this again so soon. After all, how much ambient turntable-based electronica can one man generate? Yes, we are posting yet again to let you know that Fog’s Andrew Broder has released another solo album as a free online download—this makes his third in three weeks. It’s a four-song set called Raw Bulb, and continues in the vein of his previous I Must Fix All The Problems and Experts, Specialists, namely, lots of floating, dreamlike atmospherics in the manner of Brian Eno and Robert Fripp’s 1970s collaborations No Pussyfooting and Evening Star. You can download it here, and you can listen to the whole thing by clicking that triangular icon that means “play” on the audio player below:
About his current project, Broder noted in his email announcing the new album: “Now, just because I am putting out free albums, that does not mean I can necessarily afford to do so. I can't. But in this ever-changing musical landscape, it seems like everyone is trying to re-configure how they do what they do, me included. So these are not tossed-off ideas, or freebies to advertise something else. This is what I do, and if you want to support it, you can feel free to send a voluntary donation via PayPal to: thefog@visi.com. If you can't do that, just telling a friend, or your thousands of friends online to check it out is also very helpful.” Fair enough. To check out the other two discs, see our previous posts about I Must Fix All The Problems and Experts, Specialists. We now return you to Decider's coverage of things other than Andrew Broder.
