For those who didn't make it out to this year's annual May Day celebration in Minneapolis' eclectic Powderhorn neighborhood—which happened to fall on one of the season's most mind-bendingly gorgeous days to date—Decider offers this gallery of photographic evidence.

The theme for the 2009 installment was an homage to what organizers call the "green root" and the "red root," with the former being Earth's springtime renewal and the latter representing a rise in human energies. Per the website of local puppet theater troupe and perennial May Day sponsor In The Heart Of The Beast, May Day marked a celebration of "the merging of the red and green energies of the world. We celebrated the great merging of the human social justice movements with the environmental movements to remember humans as responsible relatives of the earth. As we experience the failure of our economic systems built on debt, consumer waste, the theft and sickening of earth resources, we gathered to rebuild an economic system that protects and sustains our Earth as a 'Common Treasury for All.'"
