Recap: Cliché's Avoid The Grey fashion show, Jan. 29

Tucked away on the corner of Lyndale and 24th is Cliché, a place to find distinctive clothing you've probably seen on the pages of magazines, at galleries and theaters, or even just walking down any street in Uptown. Most of Cliché's inventory is made by local designers who know that not all Minnesotans succumb to the plaid-shirt-and-hiking-boots philosophy.  Most of the designs are both practical and stylish with a palatable price tag. Cliché's third annual Avoid The Grey runway event, held this year at the Old Arizona Theater Jan. 29, was a celebration of fabulous new and established clothiers like Ivan Idland, whose amazing basket-weave pattern dresses make a woman swoon when she sees one. Also, on display were fantastic handbags by Adrienne, creative accessories by Red Shoe Clothing Co., and the pop and awe of Emily Weich's beautifully colored dresses. All these and more were on hand Thursday night to remind us that spring is still coming (really!), and that there's more to life than parkas and snowshoes—even in Minnesota. Decider was there to take in spring's new look.
