Robert Plant at the State Theatre
More Just Announced
When Robert Plant visits the State Theatre on April 12 with Band Of Joy, don't expect a "revival" of his pre-Led Zeppelin group. Band Of Joy isn't a reunion—Plant is simply revisiting the name of the blues act he fronted intermittently from 1966 to 1968. And Plant's current Band Of Joy embarks on a far shorter jaunt of time travel, going all the way back to his late-'00s run through the wilds of Americana with bluegrass icon Alison Krauss. The band's 2010 full-length is bathed in the same sepia tones as Plant and Krauss' Grammy-winning Raising Sand, from its tracklist's carefully chosen roots standards and covers (including two by slowcore stalwarts Low) to its female backing vocalist, alt-country songstress Patty Griffin. Tickets for the State show go on sale Saturday at 11 a.m. for $55-$95.50.
