More Weekend Agenda
If you refer to a White Russian as a "Caucasian," know better than to mess with nihilists, and appreciate the ability of a special rug to really tie a room together, odds are you've already got your ticket for Friday's Lebowski Fest at First Avenue (and/or Saturday's follow-up event at Memory Lanes). At the Turf Club, local electro-rock-band-of-the-moment Solid Gold plays a late-announced headlining slot, while alt-pop chanteuse Regina Spektor spews her tuneful charm all over the State Theatre. For a last gasp of outdoor concert air, this weekend's Concrete And Grass Festival in St. Paul's Lowertown district gets underway with DJ Freddy Fresh. If you're not so into all this hipping and hopping that the young people seem so fond of, there's bluegrass O.G. Ralph Stanley at the Cedar Cultural Center.

On Saturday, alt-country kingpin Joe Pernice holds it down at the 400 Bar, while Brooklyn It-band Amazing Baby aims to please inquiring ears at the Entry. Comedy seekers can choose between accomplished funnymaker Patton Oswalt at the State Theatre and reliable rantmeister Greg Giraldo at Rick Bronson's House Of Comedy. At the Lake Harriet Bandshell, the veteran indie-rock dramatists of Low share a bill with Steven Spielberg's masterfully unnerving Jaws. The Trylon screens another classic of '70s cinema: the original, Travolta-free version of The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three.

Sunday finds locally reared R&B sexpot Har Mar Superstar getting back to his pudgy, pasty, irresistible roots at the Uptown Bar. The Turf Club hosts post-modern garage rockers Japandroids, while hometown hip-hop unit Heiruspecs closes down this year's Concrete And Grass Festival in Mears Park. At Walker Art Center, it's your last chance to catch the provocative Chilean indie flick Tony Manero.
