More Weekend Agenda
When's the last time your Mairoom concert ticket doubled as a wedding invitiation? Lucinda Williams plays a hotly anticipated show at First Avenue on Friday, capped by her planned onstage nuptials with Minnesota-born manager Tom Overby during the encore. At the Turf Club, The Heavenly States offer blissful indie rock without the matrimonial trappings, while local blues favorites indulge their woeful side during this weekend's West Bank Revival. Ascendant quartet Hildur Victoria headlines the female-favoring La Nouvelle Femme event at the Varsity. Cinephiles can take their pick between two classic crime flicks: Blood Simple at the Walker (kicking off a major Coen brothers retrospective) and Dog Day Afternoon at the Trylon.

On Saturday, shadowy hip-hop duo Kill The Vultures holds forth at the Uptown, while comparatively sunny singer-songwriters Jeremy Messersmith and Chris Koza share the stage at First Avenue. Those who like their country music without an "alt" in front of it will thrill to find Rascal Flatts at Xcel Energy Center. Raising Arizona screens at the Walker, and Wes Anderson's underrated Bottle Rocket plays at the Lake Harriet Bandshell, preceded by live music from One For The Team.

Sunday finds Norwegian songsmith Sondre Lerche touting his excellent new disc at the Fine Line. Veteran alt-folkie Ani DiFranco makes a stop at First Avenue; the younger and much louder These Arms Are Snakes appear next-door at 7th Street Entry. At the Walker, Coen brothers fever keeps on spreading by way of the extraordinary gangster drama Miller's Crossing.
