Solid Gold recording "Take Me Out To The Ballgame"
G.B. Leighton’s Twins song is a force that brings people together. In fact, more than 1,400 people have teamed up on Facebook to protest it. Hell, we felt compelled to complain about the song as soon as we heard it, then immediately felt sorta bad about subjecting other people to it. But maybe some good is coming from all that moaning. The people have been asking for a more listenable ode to hometown baseball, and it sounds like we’re getting one.
A recent press release from Solid Gold announced that the electro-pop band is following in the footsteps of The Hold Steady and recording a cover of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” to be played at Target Field. The track is described as "acid-dripping," and while we can’t quite imagine what that will sound like (or how it will go over with families from the 'burbs), we are intrigued. Of course, this doesn’t mean the G.B. Leighton song is going away, but it’s a start.
