Sound Unseen 11 kicks off with Phil Spector doc
For a film festival that's less than a week long, Sound Unseen sure crams in a lot of quality, starting with a new movie we've heard good things about. On Oct. 7, the 11th annual celebration of music docs kicks off with a screening of Vikram Jayanti's The Agony And The Ecstasy Of Phil Spector at the Southern Theater. The film features a rare interview with the famous producer that took place during his first trial for the murder of Lana Clarkson. (Although that trial ended in a hung jury, Spector was later convicted of second-degree murder.) Afterward, shake off that icky combination of misogyny and crazy with free Schells and a dance party DJ'd by Hipshaker!'s Greg Waletski. Here's the rest of the schedule, including films about David Byrne, Lil Wayne, Charlie Haden, and more:
