Steve Martin And The Steep Canyon Rangers bring bluegrass and banjo to the State Theatre
Steve Martin And The Steep Canyon Rangers
Comedians have been using instruments in their acts for years, but not many can boast Grammy awards for their serious instrumental albums. But in January, Steve Martin walked away a winner in the Best Bluegrass Album category for The Crow: New Songs For The Five-String Bango. Martin followed that up with a gig co-hosting the Oscars alongside Alec Baldwin, but now he's finding time to head out on tour with his Steep Canyon Rangers, and they'll be bringing an evening of bluegrass and banjo to the State Theatre on June 12.
Of course, Martin's talent for the banjo should come as no surprise to anyone who's followed his career, as the large number of clips on YouTube can attest. Here's one to get you started: Martin alongside Bela Fleck and Tony Trischka on Letterman.
