Summit Brewing Company throwing a 25th birthday bash

Celebrate with some beer and some beer! And some music!

The typical 25th anniversary may be celebrated with silver, but for the folks over at the Summit Brewing Company, the plan is to toast the quarter-century milestone with a nice, golden pilsner. To mark the occasion of its 25th year, Summit is hosting a party on Saturday, Sept. 10 behind the company’s St. Paul Brewery, and if you’re 21 or older, they want you to be there to celebrate with them.

In addition to having access to a full selection of Summit’s diverse beer lineup, partygoers will hear live music from the likes of Solid Gold, X-Boys, Lucy Michelle And The Velvet Lapelles, Pert Near Sandstone, and The Prizefighters. To keep with the theme, 50 percent of the $12 ticket sales will benefit the newly founded Minnesota Music Coalition, a nonprofit that aims to aid the Minnesota independent music scene. The Current’s Mark Wheat will serve as the event’s emcee, presumably because he’s well liked, and not just because there happens to be wheat in Summit’s logo.

Tickets will go on sale via the event’s website on July 25. But remember, this is Minnesota, so the organizers are already urging partygoers to ditch their cars and bike there.
