Just Announced Taylor Swift, Wire, Justin Townes Earle, more

We started making a list of shows announced this week, but it was short and sort of sad-looking. Still, for an abbreviated week, there sure are some gigantic shows, particularly of the country persuasion. Certain to be one of the biggest concerts to hit the Twin Cities in 2011, Taylor Swift’s Speak Now World Tour will stop at the Xcel Energy Center June 14-15. Rascal Flatts will also spend at day at the Xcel on Jan. 21, and Aussie country star Keith Urban is playing the Target Center on Oct. 15. (Additional details of Swift's and Urban’s shows have yet to be announced, though tickets for the latter go on sale April 8.) If you’re less “mainstream country” and more “rootsy,” Justin Townes Earle is finally coming back to town with a Feb. 14 date at First Avenue. Wire will also play the Mainroom on April 10. They are not the least bit country.

In other distant-future concert news, the Vans Warped Tour is scheduled to stop at Canterbury on July 10, with lineup announcements beginning Dec. 8. (We’re hoping this Descendents reunion continues.) Other notable developments: The Mar. 8 Girl Talk show is sold out, but a second show has been scheduled for Mar. 9; and Retribution Gospel Choir has joined the lineup for The Hold Steady’s Dec. 29 show.
