If you're preparing to shed a tear in your beer (or Bloody Mary) at the final show at the Uptown Bar, The Hawaii Show has the soundtrack ready for you. The tongue-in-cheek local combo led by ex-Lifter Puller guitarist Steve Barone will be among the very last bands to play the Uptown's tiny but history-drenched stage on Sunday, Nov. 1 (along with The Twilight Hours and Happy Apple), and have a tribute song prepped for the occasion: "The Uptown Monster Ballad," recorded with producer Jacques Wait. It's a gloriously cheesy 1980s-style hair-metal ballad in the vein of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," lamenting the loss of the club with lines like "for one last time, get a Grain Belt, a Grain Belt with a lime." You can hear them play it live on Sunday, but they've also released it to YouTube (without an actual accompanying video)—check it out below.
