New Year’s Eve is almost always a great night for parties, but midnight comes and goes so quickly. Why not start celebrating early? Like, a couple of days early. The Hold Steady is making our holidays a little happier with a show at First Avenue on Dec. 29. Those lucky bastards in Milwaukee are getting the band for New Year’s Eve, but you know what they’re not getting? Special guests Meat Puppets. The show may not be on the official holiday, but there’s guaranteed to be plenty of “Auld Lang Syne”-style reminiscing about the old days. (You know, like when we all used to run away from our conservative suburban homes and hang out under bridges downtown. You guys did that, right?) Tickets are $25 and go on sale Friday at 11 a.m.
