The Joy Formidable to play anthemic jams across U.S. in March
After spending 2011 following around the Foo Fighters, the Welsh trio with a name that demands happiness of its listeners will spurt about the U.S. and parts of Canada in March. The Joy Formidable’s bombastic debut, The Big Roar, was released in 2011 to somewhat understated appreciation—by us, even—as it made the list of albums we missed last year. In a year of releases celebrated for their quietness, The Big Roar revived some ’90s noise, all corralled by the sweet-yet-tart wail of cutely named singer Ritzy Bryan.
The band will be supported on all dates by A Place To Bury Strangers. The tour begins in San Francisco, making a stop in Minneapolis March 19 at the Fine Line, at which point Exitmusic also joins in for the rest of the dates that wrap up in Canadian territory in April.
