Just Announced The Pixies, Lucinda Williams, Chris Cornell, and more

Remember way back in 2004, when the Pixies announced not only that they were reuniting, but also that they would play their first show in 11 years at the Fine Line, of all places? It was an exciting time to be alive. If you had told us back then that we would later greet news of a Pixies tour with a shrug, we would’ve had you fitted for a straightjacket. Don’t get us wrong—the band is, without a doubt, one of the greatest of all time. But when the limited-edition candy bar keeps showing up on store shelves, it loses its luster, you know? Still, there’s probably a Pixies fan somewhere who hasn’t gotten to see the band in action yet, so this one’s for them: On the newly announced Doolittle tour, which makes a stop at Roy Wilkins April 24, the band will play its 1989 classic in its entirety. (Never mind that the reunion shows have been pretty heavy with Doolittle tracks anyway.)

The Pixies picked the Twin Cities for its comeback, but Lucinda Williams chose us for her wedding. She’s returning for the first time since her 2009 First Avenue nuptials to play a couple of intimate shows at the Dakota. Wedding etiquette says you’ve missed your chance to buy her a present, but it’s never too late to say “congrats.”
