More Just Announced
The Walker and 89.3 The Current are valuable Minnesota cultural scene institutions, and for a number of years now they’ve worked together to present us with beautifully executed events incorporating some of the world’s most inspiring artists. In August, they’re teaming up again to bring us yet another installment of Summer Music And Movies. But this year’s event, dubiously titled “I’ve Got My Eye On You,” seems engineered to stir up those nasty old feelings of paranoia and suspicion in us kind, trusting Twin Cities folk.
Every Monday in August (except the 29th), The Current and the Walker will be heading to Loring Park and pairing an influential local music act like Haley Bonar, No Bird Sing, and Buffalo Moon with a classic voyeurism-themed film like Rear Window, 1,000 Eyes Of Dr. Mabuse, and Blow-Up (respectively). The last evening of the series promises to be the most awesome/creepy, as Dark Dark Dark has been commissioned to compose and perform an original score for Fritz Lang’s silent thriller Spies. The event will be moved to Walker Open Field that night, probably to better accommodate the amount of pants-shitting that’s sure to happen.
So, you know, have a picnic in the park, see some great local bands, watch some unsettling movies, and then race home and scour your apartment for hidden surveillance equipment. Sounds like a great August.
