Trivia Mafia tightens grip on area bars

331 Club's trivia madmen expand their empire of prize-winning minutiae.

Showing that American entrepreneurship isn’t quite dead yet, an entity calling itself the Trivia Mafia has muscled its way into no less than 17 regional bars, wherein they're threatening to “give away great prizes to teams who know their stuff.” Evidently, Chuck Terhark (Como Avenue Jug Band member and an editor at METRO magazine) and Sean McPherson (bassist for Heiruspecs and Big Trouble) decided that their regular Sunday gig presiding over “Chuck & Sean's Trivia” at the 331 Club wasn’t quite fulfilling enough. They’ve cut in local singer-songwriter Martin Devaney and recruited a new staff of hosts to trivia-lize nearly every Green Mill location in the Twin Cities among other bars and eateries. Half Price Books is on board as a sponsor, relinquishing some of that cash they shorted you on your ratty copy of A Million Little Pieces. A complete list of times and locations—plus an ominous “Hit List” reserved for any trivia cheaters that dare cross the Mafia—can be viewed here.
This video (NSFW!) provides an intro to the Mafia's unpredictable tactics:
