Just Announced Tune-Yards will play the Mainroom Nov. 12

Merrill Garbus has become a ubiquitous figure in the indiesphere after just two years on the scene. The obtuse rhythms and grinding vocals of her main project, Tune-Yards, have been cause for a lot of hoopla amongst critics and fans alike. The release of a sophomore album, Whokill, with its adventurous melodies and percussive saxophones, has shown that Garbus is not comfortable settling into a repetitive sonic routine.

Those who missed Tune-Yards at the Cedar Cultural Center in May will get a second chance to see the lo-fi queen and her ensemble Nov. 12, this time playing the big stage at First Avenue. Joining the bill as an opener will be Montreal noise-popper Pat Jordache, who has previously collaborated with Garbus on a side-project called Sister Suvi.

Maybe you’ll get to hear some weird B-sides at the show; cross your fingers. Tickets go on sale this Friday, July 22. Full event details here.
