TV On The Radio at First Avenue
More Just Announced
Over the last decade, TV On The Radio has been facing the challenge of making each of its records better than the last—and totally killing it. Not an easy feat when the New York band’s 2004 breakthrough, Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes, came with the sort of hype that can’t help but lead to a career slump afterward. Still, 2008’s gorgeous Dear Science was the group’s best yet, and the album’s performance on year-end lists could only be marred by as legendary a presence as Old Man Dylan and his Rascal. It’s hard to imagine the guys topping it, really, but they’re apparently willing to try with the upcoming Nine Types Of Light. The record is set to come out sometime this spring, but depending on where the actual release date falls, you may have a chance to hear the new material early: The band is making its return to the Twin Cities for two shows at First Avenue April 23 and 24. Tickets are $21 and go on sale Friday, Feb. 25, at noon.
