Update: Photos of tornado damage at Electric Fetus

Workers examine damage at the Electric Fetus

An update on the storm damage at the south Minneapolis record store Electric Fetus: Reached by phone as she was looking over damage to the neighborhood, Stacy Schwartz, an A.V. Club freelance photographer who works at the Electric Fetus and was in the building during the storm, said that the store was hit by "the tail end of a small tornado." In addition to windows in the front of the store being blown out by wind, there was "major, major damage to the roof. Two 700-pound air-conditioning units were lifted off and slammed down. One of the structural beams was damaged. Nobody's being allowed inside the building right now."

Employees were evacuated from the building shortly after the storm damage when a gas leak was detected. The gas was later shut off without incident.

Schwartz says the store will probably reopen on Friday, pending a further look at the structural damage. "The record store part is completely fine. Nobody was hurt, thank God. Nobody was by the windows."

She emailed the photos below, showing damage to the building exterior and surrounding neighborhood, including many large trees knocked down in the area between the Electric Fetus and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in south Minneapolis.
