Live comedy fans and grief-stricken scenesters desperate to laugh through celebrity-death tears came out in force for this year's Twin Cities Improv Festival, hosted by Brave New Workshop from June 25th to the 28th. Featuring a skilled lineup of local troupes and out-of-town acts from as far as Toronto, the third annual event offered palpable energy and during a string of hour-long performances. Among the highlights were Kansas City’s Improv-Abilities, who worked tirelessly to perfect a dance number that got the crowd riled, and local favorite Fingergun, who killed with a comic saga that raised the question, “What happens when the flight attendants run out of food?" Other standouts included Toronto duo Iron Cobra, an improv face-off between teams from the Minneapolis and Chicago ComedySportz crews, and Ferrari McSpeedy. The local duo spun a hilarious, free-form tale bouncing between a kidnappee with a bad case of Stockholm syndrome and two guys arguing about MacGyver and roasted chicken while trapped on a pontoon boat in the Everglades.

Decider offers this video snapshot, complete with audience solicitations and backstage musings.
