More Just Announced
Like a weed-obsessed Frankie and Annette, Wavves’ Nathan Williams and Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino have come to symbolize sun, fun, youth, and all that other vaguely annoying stuff. It’s only natural that Williams and Cosentino would team up with another symbol of American vitality, Target, to record a song for the big box store’s Christmas compilation. It’s called “Got Something For You,” and you can hear it here along with holiday tracks by Blackalicious, Crystal Antlers, Bishop Allen, and Guster.
Williams and Cosentino aren’t content to simply spread cheer and glad tidings via corporate-sanctioned Christmas soundtracks. They’ve also planned a tour for the frigid months of January and February, including a Feb. 11 stop at the Varsity Theater. (Tickets for the local date go on sale Friday.) Williams tells Spin that there might be some special Wavves-Best Coast merch for sale. “I can’t say what it is, but it’s definitely cool,” he promised. “I think we’re also gonna breed cats before the shows and sell them at the merch table.” Hoo-boy!
