Because simply going on a boat cruise down the Mississippi river with live music from four of Minnesota’s more popular rock acts isn’t enough, The Current’s Rock The Boat has taken a left turn, er, port ... turn, and upped the ante: Fossilized human Wayne Newton will be aboard this year’s cruise, acting as the celebrity captain. The Aug. 19 event benefits Vega Productions, which is an organization that donates instruments and money to local arts programs. This year’s Rock The Boat features Mark Mallman, The Goondas, White Light Riot, and 4onthefloor, and is hosted by The Current’s Mary Lucia. Tickets are $25, and can be purchased here.
