You'll have to roll on Shabbos: Lebowski Fest in Minneapolis Sept. 11-12

Fans (a.k.a. Achievers) at Lebowski Fest 2008 in Chicago

Prepare to abide. Fans of the Coen Brothers cult-classic The Big Lebowski will be firmly in their element when the touring Lebowski Fest comes to town in September.

The grassroots happening began in Louisville, Ky. in 2002, but fans clad in Viking helmets, bathrobes, and sweaters (calling themselves “Achievers” in honor of Mr. Lebowski's charity work) started celebrating the movie in bowling alleys from L.A. to Chicago to New York. There's no current word on who will turn up at the Minneapolis stop, but past guests have included cast members (from Jeff Bridges to the prop marmot the nihilists tossed into The Dude's bath), They Might Be Giants, My Morning Jacket (in costume), Brian Posehn, Pleaseeasaur, and Dr. Dog

The two-day Minneapolis event will feature a screening of the film with to-be-announced guests at First Avenue on Sept. 11 ($20 in advance and $22 at the door). That's followed by an all-ages bowling party on Sept. 12 at Memory Lanes ($25 in advance and $30 at the door, including shoes and unlimited bowling). Costume, trivia, and bowling contests will also take place. White Russians will be on hand, so you can wander around with one and randomly shout, "Careful! There's a beverage here!" And yes, Sept. 12 is a Saturday, which means you're required to roll on Shabbos. Tickets go on sale May 15 at 10 a.m. at the Lebowski Fest website.

Just because it's awesome, here's The Dude's hallucination scene, to the tune of "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" by Kenny Rogers And The First Edition:
