He was the Walrus (never mind what he said in “Glass Onion”). He was the Smart One, the wisecracker, the troubled one, the addict, the lover, the idealist, the martyr. John Lennon was many things. And every year since the night of his senseless murder, Twin Cities scenester Curtiss A has called on friends and fellow fans from across the universe to come together, conjure up some instant karma, and celebrate Lennon’s life and work. The annual Lennon Tribute is a fixture of the local music calendar—a passionate and joyous remembrance though spirited performances. Previous shows have gone five hours without a break, featuring no fewer than 60 Beatles and solo songs, many of which are among the greatest in the rock canon. It’s easy to recommend this particular hard day’s night.
