Alfred Hitchcock Series: Psycho at Riverview Theater

The Rosetta Stone of modern horror thrillers, for better and worse, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho may not have the shock value it did in 1960, but the film’s knotty pathology is still credible and its infamous first-act twist still seems breathtakingly radical. Janet Leigh stars as a disgruntled office worker who flees with $40,000 in embezzled money in the hope that she can start a new life in California. During a heavy rainstorm en route, Leigh stops for the night at the Bates Motel, where she meets Anthony Perkins, a shy and courteous proprietor who carries on a disturbing relationship with his mother. Pulled by a guilty conscience, Leigh decides to return the money the next morning, but not before enjoying a nice, hot shower.
