The Apples In Stereo, Generationals, and Laminated Cat at Turf Club
When Robert Schneider and friends set up a studio in their Denver apartment in the early ’90s, there was no predicting that the sloppy group would evolve into The Apples In Stereo, one of the most influential indie bands of the decade. The Apples faded from view after 2002’s punky Velocity Of Sound, but rebounded with new members Bill Doss of Olivia Tremor Control on keys and John Dufilho of The Deathray Davies on drums, and released 2007’s super-catchy ELO-esque New Magnetic Wonder on Elijah Wood’s Simian label. The band recently released its seventh studio album, Travelers In Space And Time, the first without Schneider’s ex-wife and founding member Hilarie Sidney—leaving Schneider as the sole remaining member of the original lineup.
