Arctic Monkeys and The Like at First Avenue
It would have been perfectly reasonable to think Arctic Monkeys would fade into oblivion fast during their hyped rise just a few years ago, but here they are still. The post-punk upstarts from Sheffield, England, made a brash early move with their awkwardly titled debut, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, and they've worked at expanding a sound that begs for expansion since. Favourite Worst Nightmare, from 2007, bursted with the kind of energy that Arctic Monkeys ooze, and now it's time for the new Humbug, out on the increasingly cool indie label Domino.
