Battle Of The Jug Bands at Cabooze
The Como Avenue Jug Band is back to defend its crown in this mid-winter tradition, now in its 28th year. Twenty groups, traveling from as far away as Chicago, will break out their washboards, banjos, and spoons to face off in 15-minute increments in what organizers describe as "the oldest jug band gathering in the known universe." What are they competing for? The chance for their band's name to be engraved on the coveted Holliwood Waffle Iron. Because the competition is seven hours long, an all-day potluck is also part of the proceedings.
