A Benefit For Matt Lindquist And The Twin Cities Music Community Trust: Halloween, Alaska at First Avenue
The members of electronica-tinged indie-rock group Halloween, Alaska are all involved with other projects, most notably drummer Dave King’s longtime stints in The Bad Plus and Happy Apple. For its third disc, Champagne Downtown, the Minnesota-based, comma-friendly group enlisted Grammy-winning producer/engineer Tchad Blake to help draw out its sound, which is disarmingly quiet and spare but filled with subtle textures. Here, the group headlines a benefit for 7th Street Entry sound engineer Matt Lindquist, who was recently hospitalized with pneumonia, and the Twin Cities Music Community Trust, an organization that helps out members of the local music industry with medical bills and other expenses.
