Birthday Suits, Terrible Twos, and Teddy And The Turks at Turf Club
Birthday Suits love the short, sharp shock. The explosive Twin Cities duo's live show is a roaring dynamo that hits as hard as a truck and is as quickly gone. It's the same way on record; the band's “full-length” debut, 2005’s Cherry Blue, is about 15 minutes long, and since then it has preferred the punk-friendly 7-inch-single format. Five years later, the pair is finally ready to release a follow-up album: The Minnesota: Mouth To Mouth is a similar collection of volatile tracks where hooks burst through tangles of yelps, thunderous drums, and big guitar riffs. At just over 20 minutes, the album makes us wonder if Birthday Suits are cautiously increasing our tolerance for their exhaustingly fun rock.
