Bombay Bicycle Club, The Darcys, and Lucy Rose at 7th Street Entry
British indie band Bombay Bicycle Club (alliteration!) hit the ground sprinting with three successful albums in the last three years. In the U.K. the band has won multiple awards and boasts a die-hard fan base, a base that’s not yet fleshed out to the same degree here in the U.S. That’s not to say the band won’t catch fire in the future, though; the truth of the matter is that Bombay Bicycle Club is set to keep growing. As young as they are hardworking, the band members create a sound on 2011’s A Different Kind Of Fix that oscillates between upbeat electro-indie rock on tracks like “Shuffle,” and the vastly different minimal sweep of “Still” or the borderline new-wave sound of “Lights Out, Words Gone.” It’s the kind of young innovation and talent that’s as infuriating as it is impressive. Yeah, you might flip ’em the bird, but you’re gonna do it while you’re singing along.
