Minneapolis quintet The Book Of Right On is fronted by former Belles Of Skin City leader David Joe Holiday, and continues his mission to bring smart, bold, polyrhythmic punk to the masses. The approach is quite similar to that of the undeservedly unheralded Belles, who broke up after releasing just one brilliant EP and full-length: multiple percussion and vocal lines interweaving; a strongly anchoring, growly bass; and discursive, multisyllabic lyrics that are simultaneously earthy and filled with sly, ironic wit. The group puts that cracked majesty on display on its debut album, All These Songs About Music, which stands as Holiday's tightest, richest work yet.
