Bottle Rocket and One For The Team at Lake Harriet Bandshell

Shamefully ignored during its original run, Wes Anderson’s funny, whimsical comedy Bottle Rocket was rediscovered when Anderson’s unique sensibility struck a belated chord with his second feature, Rushmore. But the same sweetness and colorful humor were in evidence from the beginning, and co-writer Owen Wilson’s unforgettable turn as a would-be criminal mastermind laid the groundwork for many of his delightfully off-kilter performances since. After springing Luke Wilson from a voluntary stay at a mental hospital, Owen (Luke’s real-life brother) and their friend (Robert Musgrave) plan out a hare-brained cross-country crime spree, ending in a big score arranged by James Caan. Along the way, they take an extended stay at a Texas motel, where Luke falls in love with Spanish-speaking maid Lumi Cavazos.
