Chelsea Boys, Fort Wilson Riot, Claps, Slapping Purses, and DJ Dick Pic at 7th Street Entry
Fresh-faced duo Fort Wilson Riot combines programmed beats, sturdy keys, and gentle harmonies with random instrumentation—like strings, live trumpet, and even something resembling a MIDI brass section on “All My Friends” from the upcoming Predator/Prey. While the band's not exactly smashing through genre boundaries, it at least politely sidesteps their respective trappings in its effervescent mix of electro-pop and country-rock. The manageable grandiosity of the group's 2007 indie-rock opera, Idigaragua, was fully realized when the album was transformed into a full-stage production for a short run at Bedlam Theatre in Minneapolis.
