HOLIDAY SALE AT THE ONION STORE

Colbie Caillat, Howie Day, and Trevor Hall at First Avenue

Colbie Caillat is the daughter of Ken Caillat, the producer of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, so at least she has a tangential connection to timelessly brilliant pop music. Her own records, however, haven’t been nearly as memorable. Caillat’s 2007 debut, Coco, was sold on the basis of the annoying hit single “Bubbly,” a light-hearted, Lilith Fair throwback about the "bubbly" feeling of newfound love. (Who's cringing?) “Bubbly” is the kind of innocuous pap that lite FM stations love to run into the ground for decades, but there’s no guarantee that Caillat will be similarly enduring. Still, she’s seems to be off to a good start—the recent Breakthrough debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart.
